I subtracted the date of finishing from the date of test and set that as my maximum interval. Then calculate the days until I would 'finish' the deck, within reason. What I did was calculate the days until my test date. This doesn't make the information useless, it just means you need to be wary of it. Button 1: bad, Button 2: good, button 3: easy.Ī lot of times people will hit good on a card just because they don't want to see it again so soon, like-wise people will hit good on a card even though it really was easy, they just want to see it again before the 'easy' interval would have placed it. In order for the bar graphs to be accurate representations of what you are learning, you need to only be hitting the buttons when you actually are defined by what they mean. Also, a much more basic way to get this same thing to happen is to simply lower the maximum interval. Adding pictures or coming up with mnemonics can be helpful too. Did you actually forget the information or is there a way you could tweak the card to ask the question more clearly? I find it necessary to make many small changes to wording when using a premade deck. It is also important to ask why you are missing cards. I recommend playing with the simulator add on before doing this because small changes in the interval modifier can drastically increase the amount of cards you do per day. You can adjust the interval modifier using the formula log(90%)/log(current retention rate) to find an interval modifier that will get you close to 90%. Any more than that and you start to see cards too often and you waste time that can be spent doing practice questions. Close to 90% is a good goal ( I feel comfortable as long as I am between 87-92%). Make sure you have the right deck selected when you’re looking at stats because you don’t want to only be looking at your retention for one sub deck. You can find this by scrolling down and looking for a bar graph that tells you how often you press each button for new, young, and mature cards. Go to stats and look at your retention rates.
